CODE OF ETHICS

As a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist, the following code will outline the ethics and values that I will adhere to at all times:

I shall conduct myself in a professional manner at all times, to comply with this and my professional Association’s accepted standards.
I shall ensure that any persons employed by me also adhere to this code of ethics.
I shall never misrepresent my qualifications and experience, operate outside by scope of practice or denigrate other professions.
I shall respect the client’s right to treatment with informed and voluntary consent. All treatment and associated risks will be explained and should a client be unable to decide or speak independently, I shall ensure that they are represented by an appropriate advocate.
I shall maintain a professional boundary between myself and clients and promote and preserve the trust that is inherent between myself and my clients.
I shall treat personal information obtained in a professional capacity as confidential and adhere to the principles outlined in the Maelstrom Remedial Massage Privacy Policy in relation to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
I shall always refer my client’s to other relevant professionals should it be appropriate and not perform massage therapy when contraindicative.
I shall endeavour to continually advance my professional skills to further assist in the well-being of my clients.
I shall ensure my professional place of practice is always comfortable, hygienic and free from hazards and that any products used are safe.
I shall ensure I have adequate professional insurances to protect myself and my clients.
I shall consider and respect cultural values and beliefs, personal wishes and decisions of individuals, irrespective of gender, age, race, sexuality, lifestyle, or religious or cultural beliefs.
I shall adhere to all statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to my professional, both legally and in relation to professional body requirements.
