Maelstrom Remedial Massage is committed to protecting the privacy of all the individuals it deals with. We embrace the National Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 1988 and Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. A copy of this Privacy Policy will be provided to all clients and be displayed at Maelstrom Remedial Massage’s place of business. The National Privacy Principles control the way in which Maelstrom Remedial Massage may collect, store, use and disclose your personal information including any sensitive information entrusted to us. Personal information may include sensitive information and health information. Maelstrom Remedial Massage understands that the confidentiality of personal information is vitally important and are committed to ensuring that all personal information entrusted to us is protected against misuse. Maelstrom Remedial Massage collects, stores, uses and discloses your personal information for a range of purposes. We collect your personal information primarily to enable us to provide you with the highest standard of massage service and to otherwise fulfil our administrative processes. When collecting personal information about you, we will collect that information from you or from third parties only with your consent and by fair and lawful means. If you prefer, and where lawful and practicable, we will also allow you to deal with us on an anonymous basis. Commonwealth government identifiers will not be used for Maelstrom Remedial Massage’s record keeping system. Your personal information may be requested from or provided to other health care providers eg. Hospitals, Medical practitioner, physiotherapist or chiropractor, to insurance agencies and/or health insurers, your executor, guardian, legal representative, regulatory bodies, complaints processors/adjudicators, government agencies, law enforcement bodies and courts; and other parties to whom we are permitted, authorised or required by law to disclose information. Your personal information may also be used by Maelstrom Remedial Massage to improve service development, marketing and research purposes; IT systems maintenance and development; financial processes and control and for employee appraisal and development purposes. Personal information will only be transported out of Australia with your consent. Where Maelstrom Remedial Massage does disclose your personal information to other parties, it has in place arrangements or understandings with those third parties to ensure that your personal information is handled in a manner consistent with our obligations under this Privacy Policy. Maelstrom Remedial Massage will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information collected is accurate, complete and up-to-date and will destroy all information no longer required or relevant to employee records, or service provision.
